Digne has signed his Paris Saint-Germain contract and only the announcement is outstanding. Matt Maher reported in the Express & Star on August 8th that the departure is expected to be confirmed early next week. Paris triggered a release clause of around EUR 10m, and he agreed a three-year deal to June 2029, returning to France straight after his World Cup to complete a medical before taking his holiday. Le Parisien reported the medical passed on July 20th, CulturePSG confirmed the following day that Paris had notified Villa they would trigger the clause, and Paristeam, relaying Fabrizio Romano, reported the signature on July 22nd. Maher had written on August 4th that the GBP 8m move was on course to complete once Digne was back from his post-World Cup holiday, and that Ian Maatsen will be given his chance to claim the left-back role against whoever arrives as the replacement. Neither club has announced anything, and until Villa do he remains their player, but he was left out of the 23 Villa registered with UEFA for the Super Cup on August 6th. He turned 33 on July 20th and returns to the club he left in 2016, where he is expected to deputise for Nuno Mendes.
