Manzambi medical booked as Villa near €70m hijack completion

Villa are on the brink of completing the signing of Johan Manzambi from Freiburg, with Florian Plettenberg reporting the deal is 'done and sealed' between the clubs and the Switzerland midfielder's medical scheduled for Thursday. The package is worth close to €70m including add-ons after Villa outbid Newcastle, with Champions League football under Unai Emery decisive. Reported disquiet over the club's new Visit Rwanda shirt sponsorship, given Manzambi's DR Congo family roots, is said not to threaten the move.

Bayern would rather bank around €25m after Spurs declined their option, but are open to another loan; Benfica remain in the race for the 31-year-old, with Juventus and Milan also credited with interest.
